The Romance of Garlic

One of the oldest known foods, there are records dating back over 6000 years of garlic being used as food and medicine.  The Egyptian kings fed their slaves garlic to keep them strong and healthy, but apparently wouldn’t stoop to eating this “stinking rose” themselves!  However, when archeologists opened an almost 6000 year-old tomb at El Mahasna, Egypt in 1911 they discovered small clay models of garlic bulbs.  And when King Tut’s tomb was opened about 50 years later they found, among precious artifacts, six dried but perfectly preserved bulbs of real garlic!  It appears they used it exclusively to ward off evil.
